Design is often full of “either/ors”. Instead, this talk explores the “and/ors” of Design through Fear and Love, emotions we have all experienced throughout our lives, emotions that we all have in common no matter our beliefs, religions, values and cultures. 

We will dig into how these emotions are held together and separated, to see how meaning shifts across people, contexts, time, and more, making visuals shift as well in perception, reaction, action, and interaction.

Through visual studies uncovered in well-trusted academic papers, we will go into political campaigning and how Fear and/or Love are translated in their visuals. We will also learn a few simple tools to turn tension into intention in visual language.

We promise you 3 takeaways:
- Data-based visual studies exploring Fear and/or Love
- Key questions to guide critique and conceptualisation
- A straightforward diagram to reference when designing

Speaker – Rosemary Zeynoun
Rosemary is a Copenhagen-based designer with an MA in Graphic Communication Design from the Royal Danish Academy. She specializes in Wayfinding Strategy and Behavioral Design and is a human-behavior enthusiast who advocates for inclusivity and diversity. She co-founded AND ORS with Tao Kitamoto, shaping it into an editorial platform. With 13 years in wayfinding and digital UX, she has a deep understanding of how people interact with spaces, communication, and design across cultures.
