A PERFORMANCE ON ACCEPTANCE 

The 14 th and 15 th of July Kvarterhuset Amagerbro will be hosting the double bill performance “Wallflowers, run deep & Essendo”. The idea of the evening is to bring awareness on acceptance as opposition to a society that often aims to perfectionism, maybe not allowing the real self to be. So how can we find acceptance, listen to ourselves and by being honest allow presence and real connection with the others? The two pieces analyse the same theme with a different approach, through movement and music. 

“Wallflowers, run deep” 

The performance presents two women in an encounter with the beauty in their inner chaos.  “Wallflowers, run deep” is a duet about seeing each other plays out in the light of a unique playful universe the audience will step into. A universe where small scenarios of chaos combining the outlandish and serious will appear.  A chaos that is often prejudged as being negative but through movement, dancers and choreographers Nikoline Due and Nana Anine Jørgensen, are inviting chaos on stage in a positive and lively view. The performance highlights “the imperfect I” and present a showdown with perfectionism as society norm. The question is, can we make chaos a friend?   

“Essendo” 

The piece ‘Essendo’ (in Italian being, the gerund form of the verb to be) tries to show honesty towards the self in a journey where vulnerability is embraced, and not refrained from. If we forego self-judgment and strip ourselves from our ideas of the future, can we allow a moment to rise and fall to its own accord and simply be?  This is the question moving the piece, a duet where the performers meet in a continuous dialogue: the spontaneous movement of Giorgia Reitani is accompanied by the melancholic voice and sound of the çeng (ancient Turkish harp) played by Abraham Rademacher.   

The evening has a total duration of 50 minutes and it is advised for an audience of young and adults from the age of 14. 

There is no ticket fee. But a seat reservation is necessary due to corona restrictions. It is  also necessary to show a corona pass at the entrance.
