'A Sustainable Future for Fashion': Sustainability Continued: What’s Next?
The question of sustainability in fashion often end in measuring emissions and choosing new fabrics. But to create true sustainability we need to rethink not only how we produce, but why. One of the leading voices in this fundamental change in fashion is Kate Fletcher, design activist and professor at University of the Arts London. In this conversation, we will discuss what lies ahead for the fashion industry in terms of creating a more sustainable system. We will discuss what role designers have, and how looking to nature offers a prosperous and robust direction for the future of fashion.
Kate Fletcher (PhD) is a Professor at Centre for Sustainable Fashion, University of the Arts London, UK. She is the most cited scholar in fashion and sustainability and her work, like that on post-growth fashion and fashion localism, both defines and challenges the field. Kate is a co-founder of the Union of Concerned Researchers in Fashion and has written and/or edited nine books translated into seven languages. Her latest work is about design, nature and clothing.
