By its very nature found-footage filmmaking is a (positive) act of plundering and vandalism and by definition classic found-footage films are products of underground movie making. In short: it is a form of out-law cinema.
A genre as old as celluloid itself, as long as movies have existed they have been re-appropriated, defaced, exploited, subverted and re-imagined by other filmmakers to create personal & artistic statements that run the gamut from hilarious to truly disturbing, from the political to the personal.
For this program we present relevant works from noted underground filmmakers such as Stan Brakhage, Craig Baldwin, Charles Braverman and Martha Colburn among others, all screened on their original 16mm formats. The program will be presented by Jack Stevenson.
The screening will take place in Husets Biograf on the 2nd floor.
