In collaboration with DR (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation) and the Film Workshop, CPH:DOX is once again rewarding a young, aspiring filmmaker with the DR Talent Award during CPH:DOX Film Festival.
As an introduction the DR Talent Award we will from 1 p.m until 2 p.m show the movie "Chasing Tornado" by Josefine Gervang Heimburger and Maria Møller Kjeldgaard. This project was pitched, and won, the DR Talent Award in 2014 and had its premiere on DR3 in April of 2018.
It is a personal youth portrait about winning and losing, about love and about letting go of a passion – which for many is a random hobby – in order to grow up. The Danish world champion of table soccer, Amalie Bremer, dreams about beating the Americans on their infamous foosball table, Tornado. But how does a successful, competitive female athlete handle the greatest challenge yet in her professional career?
From 2:30 p.m until 4:30 p.m we will have the pitch competition where six projects will pitch their idea. In the selection process the jury are especially keen on projects that are fit for DR3’s profile. This entails stories that are told with bold honesty, that shows curiosity, gives an insight to unknown worlds or which challenges the traditional limits of the documentary genre.
The winner receives 25.000 DKK in production support from DR, ongoing professional guidance from and the possibility to borrow professional production equipment from the Film Workshop. Depending on the final result of the production, the film might have the possibility of being broadcasted on one of DR’s platforms.
