Organic improv, poetic melancholy, composed frames investigating compositions of Sven Meinild and Paul Wacrenier. Jazz comes together with reminiscences of the folklore of France, Greenland, Japan and Denmark as well as inspirations from the vast Mongolian grasslands and the Pygmees vocal tradition.
Upwind Circles is the debut album of the adventurous international quintet Living Things. It has been given positive attention in Denmark and Internationally.
Living Things is a collaboration between french pianist Paul Wacrenier and danish saxophonist Sven Meinild. Together they created Living Things as vehicle to explore their common interests in sound and music. Together with the young Polish trumpet maestro Tomasz Dąbrowski - Barefoot Records member - and the dynamic rhythm group of Casper Nyvang Rask and Rune Lohse, they unfold a repertoire of melodies, improvisations, sounds and noises.
