Maretti Andersen are exquisite improvisers and high level instrumentalists.

Since the late 1990 ́s they have collaborated on hundreds of projects, recordings and tours with a list of who-is-who of bands and artists on the Danish and Scandinavian jazz scene.

The friendship between these three kindred and creative spirits dates back to the 1990 ́s, when they worked as the jam session host band at the famed Copenhagen nightclub LaFontaine. The Sunday evenings late night sessions was a learning ground for Waidtløw, Vadsholt and Andersen as they backed local musicians and visiting jazz- and blues artist at the Copenhagen jazz hot spot. They developed a unique trio sound and interplay and trust that only few bands achieve.

Now, finally they reunite again in trio format, playing their own compositions and carefully selected and rearranged standard tunes. Nice Chair offers a vibrant, intense and swinging take on the classic saxophone trio format without harmony instrument.

Waidtløw is one of the most respected saxophonists in DK and has played and recorded with Kurt Elling, John Scofield, Jeff Ballard, Christian McBride, Kurt Rosenwinkel a.m.o. Vadsholt fill out the bass chair in the Danish Radio Bigband.

Besides playing drums in New Jungle Orchestra Andersen is a sought-after sidemen around Denmark and Europe.

From Steve Swallow ́s liner notes to Nice Chair ́s upcoming debut album The Game:

“Good music offers surprises, and challenges the listener to respond. In a time when we’re increasingly content to sink into safe, comfortable art and entertainment, I’m grateful to be pushed and prodded, to join these adventurous musicians in a ride full of unexpected twists and turns. It’s good to be alive.” - Steve Swallow.
