Did you know that it can be easy to make your own chocolate at home?
Do you want to understand the science behind chocolate, and learn how to preserve/grow it in your own home?
Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, whose scientific name is Theobroma Cacao, meaning “Food of the Gods” in Latin.
We will create and taste delicious, raw, organic chocolate in several forms: fresh cacao beans, chocolate bars, and cacao paste. We will also explore cacao’s rich history, learn about its medicinal scientific use and trace its journey from the pre-colonial Mayan context to its current form as a luxury good in Western culture.
Each participant will take home some handmade chocolate, truffles and hot chocolate elixir, and receive printed recipes and suggested sources of direct trade cacao from cooperatives in Ecuador where the original pods were sourced. so that you can make your own at home.
The workshop will last 2 hours and includes all the equipment needed, however, do bring a glass jar if you wish to take home your final product.
