Elcides Carlos (MZ)
Elcides Carlos Armando was born on July 23, 1985, in Mozambique, in the province of Maputo City.
He grew up in the suburbs of Maputo, more specifically in the neighborhood of Chamanculo “D”.
Music has always been present in the bosom of the family. His late father was a music lover and vinyl record collector. Remember that during childhood, there were special days and moments to listen to records, after all they were the trea- sure of their owner. At this stage of his life, he listened to music from various parts of the world on the turntable: James Brown, Martinho da Vila, Manu Dibango , Steve Kekana , Fany Mpfumo, among others.
Hi ́s debut album “Sence of Presence” released in February 2023 is the most demanded in the Mozambican Jazz scene, featuring some of the best solists that the counry offers to mention : Xixel Langa, Bhaka Yafole, Lalah Mahigo & Deodato Siquir.
