Talk på CC med Performas grundlægger RoseLee Goldberg 

I anledningen af udstillingen Performa Archive, og som en del af CCs talk- og debatprogram Perspectives on performance, gæster Performas grundlægger RoseLee Goldberg CC. Som optakt til ferniseringen giver den anerkendte kunsthistoriker en talk om sit mangeårige arbejde med Performa, biennalen og forskning i performancekunst. Talken er en særlig mulighed for at dykke længere ned i Performas og performancekunstens historie og fremtid. 

Talken finder sted umiddelbart inden ferniseringen onsdag d. 19.06 kl. 17-18.

RoseLee Goldberg

RoseLee Goldberg, stifter af Performa, er kunsthistoriker, kritiker og kurator. Hendes bog ’Performance Art: From Futurism to the Present’, der blev udgivet første gang i 1979, var banebrydende for undersøgelsen af performancekunst. Hun er tidligere direktør for Gulbenkian Gallery påRoyal College of Art Gallery i London og kurator på The Kitchen i New York, er forfatter til ’Performance: Live Art since 1960’ (1998) og ’Laurie Anderson’ (2000) og er tilmed hyppig bidragsyder til Artforum samt andre faglige publikationer. 

I 2005 lancerede hun New Yorks første performancebiennale, Performa 05, og lancerer i november 2019 den ottende biennale Performa 19. Goldberg har siden 1987 været professor ved New York University og er en hyppig gæsteforelæser ved Yale, Brown, Princeton og Columbia University samt andre større uddannelses- og kulturinstitutioner i USA og resten af verden.

Perspectives on performance 

CC har initieret et talk- og debatprogram under titlen ’Perspectives on performance’. Gennem debatter, performances og foredrag undersøger CC samtidens performancekunst og dens stigende popularitet hos publikum og kunstinstitutionerne. CC ønsker at udforske, hvilke nye udtryksformer live performance rummer, og hvilke udfordringer den uhåndgribelige kunstform bringer i forbindelse med udstillinger, indkøb, samlinger, formidling og publikum.

Talk at CC with Performa’s founder, RoseLee Goldberg

To mark the exhibition Performa Archiveand as part of CC’s talk and debating programme, ‘Perspectives on performance’, the founder of Performa, RoseLee Goldberg, will visit CC. As an introduction to the opening of the exhibition, the acclaimed art historian will give a talk about her long-standing work with Performa, the biennial, and research into performance art. The talk is a special opportunity to delve further into the history and future of Performa and performance art.

The talk takes place immediately before the opening on Wednesday 19 June from 17–18.

About RoseLee Goldberg

Founding Director and Chief Curator of Performa, art historian, critic, and curator. Her book Performance Art: From Futurism to the Present, first published in 1979, pioneered the examination of performance art. She is a former director of the Royal College of Art’s Gulbenkian Gallery in London and curator at The Kitchen, New York; she wrote Performance: Live Art since 1960 (1998) and Laurie Anderson (2000) and is a frequent contributor to Artforum and other professional publications. 

In 2005, she organised New York’s first performance biennial, Performa 05, and November 2019 sees the eighth biennial, Performa 19. Since 1987, Goldberg has been a professor at New York University and she is a much-used visiting lecturer at Yale, Brown, Princeton, and Columbia Universities and other major educational and cultural institutions in the USA and the rest of the world.

Perspectives on performance 

CC initiated a talk and debating programme, ‘Perspectives on performance’,which, via debates, performances, and talks, examines contemporary performance art and its growing popularity with audiences and art institutions alike. This is where the new forms of expression contained in live performance are explored and the challenges of this intangible art form are addressed in connection with exhibitions, acquisitions, collections, education, and audiences.
