TERRY SOUTHERN FILM FESTIVAL: OPENING NIGHT

14 feb 2019 kl. 19:00 - 21:30

Husets Biograf, Rådhusstræde 13, 1446 København

We welcome American writer Josh Alan Friedman, author of "NOW DIG THIS - THE UNSPEAKABLE WRITINGS OF TERRY SOUTHERN," for the first of a 3-part series on Terry Southern who wrote or co-wrote the scripts on many of the most groundbreaking films of the American counter-culture period. Tonight he presents and discusses DR. STRANGELOVE

18:00 = CAFÉ AREA OPENS

19:00 = INTRODUCTION BY JOSH FRIEDMAN

19.30 = DR. STRANGELOVE (1964 / 95 min.) In 1964, with the Cuban Missile Crisis fresh in viewers' minds, the Cold War at its frostiest, and the hydrogen bomb relatively new and frightening, Stanley Kubrick dared to make a film about what could happen if the wrong person pushed the wrong button -- and played the situation for laughs. Dr. Strangelove's jet-black satire (from a script by director Stanley Kubrick and Terry Southern) and a host of superb comic performances (including three from Peter Sellers) have kept the film fresh and entertaining and proven shockingly prophetic in the age of Trump.
