Vi danner en runway i salen, hvor deltagerne vil dyste i aftenens 12 kategorier, som du kan læse om længere nede.
Ballroomkulturen hylder kærlighed, kreativitet, queerness og individualitet.

Scenen startede i USA i 60’erne, hvor deltagerne “gik” mod hinanden og konkurrerede i kategorier som Runway, Best Dressed og Hands Performance. Dansestilen Voguing, opstod ud af ballroom-miljøet og er en helt særegen dansestil, inspireret af egyptiske hieroglyffer og Vogue-magasinets kendte model-poses.

Et ball er sted kun af tolerance og gensidig respekt. Et sted, hvor alle er velkomne uanset køn, seksualitet, race, klasse eller etnicitet. Et sted, hvor vi fejrer hinanden og alle dem, der har banet vejen for kulturen.

The doors open at 8 pm and the ball begins at 9 pm. Come and look your best, nothing is too much! THE THEME OF THE BALL IS AVANT-GARDE.

We create a runway in Absalon’s main hall, where the contestants will walk in the categories stated below.
The ballroom culture celebrates love, creativity, queerness, and individuality.

A ball is a place of tolerance and mutual respect. A place where everybody is welcome regardless of gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity. A place where we celebrate each other and honor those, who have paved the way for the culture.
If you want to participate, to walk the Ball, take some time beforehand to learn what it means and do your research. If you need any help before or at the Ball, just ask, and we will help you.

WHAT IS AVANT-GARDE?Avant-garde is originally a French term, meaning in English vanguard or advance guard, which is the part of an army that goes forward ahead of the rest.

Being Avant-garde means working in an experimental or radical way in aspects such as art, culture and society. Ballroom has been avant-garde in all of these aspects since the very beginning. Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo. Tonight we will celebrate the artistic and innovative way of thinking in the name of the avant-garde! Let the creative juices flow!

1) - OTA Runway

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER, HAUTE COUTURE
We all know that haute couture is the avant-garde of fashion! Tonight you will bring it in an ovah haute couture look, inspired by the beautiful and innovative looks by Jean Paul Gaultier. Get creative!


2) - OTA Fashion Killer FROM VANDALISME TO AVANT-GARDE ART

The day when graffiti was reviled as "vandalism" has been left behind - top street artists are now a big draw for both galleries and collectors. Street art is rebellious, unexpected, creative and thought provoking! How can you incorporate that into your outfit? Think streetstyle, prints, colors, different materials and statements! BUT ABOVE ALL: Think fashion!


3) - Face (2 trophies)

OLD SCHOOL HOLLYWOOD GLAM
We love the avant-garde look, but classical beauty never goes out of style! Tonight you will be serving face in an old school Hollywood glam look!
FF Bring it in a long dress inspired by Hollywood divas like Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn
MF Bring it in that timeless suit and tie look, like the handsome James Dean and Leonardo Dicaprio.


4) - New way vs. Old way (3 trophies)

HITMAN
Since the beginning of time dictators have been in the way of the avant-garde. Preventing artists and activists to express political and artistic points of view with law making and censorships. Tonight you have been hired as the hitman we all need to take the dictators down. You have two opportunities to complete you mission:

1.) The traditional hitman, bring it in a suit and sunglasses
2.) The sniper, bring it in a catsuit ready to kill


5) - Vogue Femme

BRIGHT COLORS LIKE ANDY WARHOL
Andy Warhol was one of the leading figures in the avant-garde art movement known as pop art. Pop art is based on modern pop culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values.
Tonight we wanna see you vogue down in bright colors! Get inspired by the famous painting of Marylin Monroe made by Andy Warhol.


6) - Hands performance vs. Armscontrol (3 trophies)

PAINT A PICTURE
The term avant-garde is first and foremost associated with art, and especially with the avant-garde painters, who really changed the game in the 20th century. Tonight you are one of those brave painters! You have been up all night trying to finish your beautiful avant-garde painting.
Bring it with paint on your clothes, hands, body OR face!


7) - Realness (2 trophies)

GENDER EQUALITY

From second-class citizens to strong businesswomen!Women’s liberation movement was the avant-garde of gender equality and affected great change both political and cultural throughout the world! Tonight you will honour these women and the fight they fought.Bring it as the strong businesswoman you are now able to be!!

MF
Fight toxic masculinity!! The fight for gender equality is not only about women’s rights in society. It is also about changing the social construction of gender.
The number of stay-at-home dads began gradually increasing in the late 20th century. Tonight you will bring it as a loving and caring “stay-at-home-dad”


8) - OTA Sex siren

LEGALIZING PORNOGRAPHY

In 1969 Denmark was the first country in the world to legalize pornography. Tonight we will celebrate the right to explore sexuality and desire through porn. So, are you a sexy nurse? Or maybe a naughty schoolgirl? Are you into SM or do you keep it classy?
We expect you to show us your sexual fantasies by representing a fetish of your choice! Lets get nasty


9) - BizarreLIVING PIECE OF ART
Although the term avant-garde was originally applied to innovative approaches to art making in the 19th and early 20th centuries, it is applicable to all art that pushes the boundaries of ideas and creativity, and is still used today to describe art that is radical or reflects originality of vision.
Tonight you will bring it as an avant-garde piece of art! Art is free and so are you! You can interpret it, however you want, as long as it hasn’t been seen before, think avant-garde! So are you a living painting? Perhaps a moving art installation? Or maybe even a sculpture?


10) - Best dressed spectator (only for those who are not walking any other category during the ball)
Are you a part of the audience, and your look draws all attention? Come to the runway and battle for the trophy! (The outfit you battle in is the outfit you arrived to and leave the ball with, and we got people watching, so don’t try and cheat miss thing)


11) - Fag out/Dyke out (2 trophies)

GAY MARRIAGE
Same-sex marriage started being legalized at the beginning of the 21st century. Today, it is available in 28 countries.
Tonight is the night! You are getting married to the love of your life! Bring it in the wedding look of your dreams! Nothing is too much, this is your time to shine!How will you be walking down the aisle? Make sure to have an ovah entrance!!


12) - Lip sync

STUDIO 54
The famous nightclub “Studio 54” was a game changer in nightlife in the 70s and 80s. The world has not since the “Studio 54”-era experienced such a unique nightclub.
The club opened at the peak of the disco trend and ended up having a huge impact on the growth of disco music.
Tonight you will take us back to “Studio 54” by lip-syncing one of the famous disco anthems listed below.
AND REMEMBER: The nightclub was particularly famous for its restrictive and subjective entry policies, so you better make sure you look stunning!!

* Butch Queen Up In Drags (BQUID) – Gay male identifying non trans man presenting female.
* Butch queen – Homosexual non trans man.
* Transman – Transman doing hormones.
* Butch – Transman not doing hormones, or Female identified at birth presenting male.
