Forfatteren tager os med bananbåden Horncap på dens sidste rejse i et forsøg på at komme overens med begrebet Heimat.
Med Weekendavisen, Hannah Arendt og en cd med en tysk protestsanger som rejsekammerater, påmønstrer Klavs Wulff Horncap. Lekturen viser sig at blive en samtalepartner på tværs af tider og steder – sådan som den blå horisont netop indbyder til. Vi kommer både tilbage til det lille Storebælt og ud på de syv verdenshave i dette korte skriv. Hvis vi skulle have glemt vores maritime historie, får vi et skvæt af den her, hvor det salte vand blander sig med ordene.
