Vi starter efterårsarrangementerne ud med et besøg fra en af vores bogaktuelle venner David Trads er klar med en ny bog. David gør status over truslen fra Det Hvide Hus og ser tilbage på sin lange personlige historie med USA. Bogen hedder 'Amerika stiller uret tilbage' og udkommer 1. september, dvs. dagen før David besøger os i Tranquebar.
Emma Louise Stenholm, redaktør på Føljeton interviewer David denne aften, hvor vi vil forsøge at blive klogere på hvad vi gør nu, hvor det ellers tætte samarbejde mellem Amerika og Europa har ændret sig.
Forlaget skriver: I 40 år, fem måneder og ti dage var David Trads forelsket i Amerika. Det begyndte den varme dag i august 1984, da Donna tog imod en 17-årig udvekslingsstuderende fra Danmark i New York City. Og det sluttede den kolde dag i januar 2025, da Trump igen blev indsat som præsident i Washington.
Men det personlige traume er vores alle sammens. Gennem sin egen historie om kærlighed, svigt og håb fortæller forfatteren om, hvordan alt det, vi troede på – især at Amerika og Europa står sammen – er slut. Den verden, vi kendte, eksisterer ikke længere. Så hvad gør vi nu?
Arrangementet starter kl. 19.00 og billetten koster 60 kr. Dørene åbner kl. 18.30.
