I forhold til tidligere filmatiseringer giver filmen en dybere indsigt i en ung kvindes sind og identitetudvikling under svære vilkår. I sit 'fangeskab' begynder den spirende forfatter Anne Frank at filosofere over livet og egen udvikling – ensomheden og usikkerheden præger teenagerens sind, hvilket frustrerer den unge Anne næsten lige så meget som selve krigen.
Filmen vises i forbindelse med Copenhagen Jewish Film Festival.
