Copenhagen Jazz Festival og spillestedet ALICE er stolte over at præsentere den radikale, Chicago-trompetist Jaimie Branch for første gang i København. Hun er aktuel med den elektroniske duo Anteloper sammen med Jason Nazary fra bandet Bear in Heaven, og den 4. december gæster de ALICE.
Jaimie Branch bliver hyldet som én af de mest interessante nye trompetister i det seneste årti af medier og musikerkolleger. Blandt andet blev hendes album “Fly or Die” kåret til ét af 2017’s bedste albums i New York Times på trods af dets relativt avantgardistiske natur. Jaimie Branch har spillet med Matana Roberts, William Parker, TV on the Radio m.fl. og været en aktiv del af både Chicago og New Yorks jazzscene, inden hun udgav musik i eget navn.
Anteloper er et elektronisk hjertebarn, skabt af Jaimie Branch og Jason Nazary. Som trompetist og trommeslager har de to venner spillet sammen i forskellige konstellationer, siden de mødtes på New England Conservatory i 2002, men i Anteloper er synthesizere deres nye astrale fartøj. Forankret i spirituel, kosmisk musik og telepatiske jazzimprovisationer viser Anteloper slægtskab til såvel Don Cherry og Rob Mazurek som Hieroglyphic Being og The Comet Is Coming.
Deres første udgivelse “Kudu” udkom tidligere i 2018 på det fremsynede label International Anthem (også Irreversible Entanglements, Makaya McCraven m.fl.), om hvilket The Wire skrev “When Branch blows over the bubbling synths, she is as commanding as ever, and it’s a thrill to follow her as she twists her lines in unexpected directions.”

ALICE is presenting a bold and high quality program of global roots, jazz/improv, electronic music, sonic experiments and much more, shedding light on musical roots and legendary artists as well as exciting new breakthroughs from all over the world.
