Også i Athelas vil vi markere og fejre en af vor tids største komponister, når han fylder 90 år!
Per Nørgård har været et lysende forbillede og ideal for en eller to generationer af musikere og komponister med hans usædvanligt åbne tilgang til musik og usædvanlige skaberkraft, der både har taget os ud i uendeligheden og helt ind i det skrøbelige menneskelige sind.
Det er kun to værker på aftenens program, men det er to af de bedste fra hans enorme værkliste:
Nova Genitura og Seadrift – to værker der, når de spilles ved samme koncert, kaldes ”Den Himmelske og den jordiske kærlighed”.
”Nova Genitura” besynger Havets Stjerne og Jomfru Maria, med brug af Nørgåds Maria-hymner, mens ”Seadrift” i to satser beskriver en situation fra et digt af Walt Whitman med to fregatfugle der først er sammen og lykkelige, mens i 2. sats den ene sidder forladt tilbage og skriger sin smerte ud i krumhornet til sidst.
Værkerne er for en subtil blanding af gamle og moderne instrumenter: Cembalo, krumhorn, blokfløjte, violin, cello, guitar og slagtøj – samt en sopransolist der denne gang er skønne Nina Bols Lundgren.
Frederik Støvring dirigerer begge værker.
Koncerten varer kun 45 minutter.
