BAND AU NEON - Oltretango 20 years
Celebrating more than 20 years of musical friendship 

The trio Band au Neon was formed in 2002 when three Italian musicians – all based in Copenhagen – met and musical magic was born! The meeting of the three Italians in Copenhagen quickly gave birth to a personal and unique musical style, which resulted in the group's first album "OLTRETANGO" in 2005.

The music from the trio moves effortlessly in many genres and styles, from Italian folk to South American rhythms, to Mediterranean warmth, and with a touch of Nordic jazz. It is playful and light, creative and rich – and with both room for humor and seriousness, their live performances always exude a good atmosphere with the very special contact that exists among the musicians, which is contagious and includes the audience in a musical fireworks display.

All members of the group are composers and arrangers of the repertoire: Paolo Russo alternates between the piano and the bandoneon and, together with Francesco Calì on piano and accordion and Fabrizio Mandolini on soprano and tenor sax, will lead the audience on an exciting journey into their personal musical universe, and we will hear music from the first album "Oltretango", as well as brand new material from the three Italians.

Band au Neon has existed for over 20 years with Paolo Russo as the anchorman of the group. The bandoneon, the unique Argentine instrument played by Russo, has inspired the name of the group, which has changed format and members over the years. We celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Band Au Neon's first album with a musical reunion of the original constellation, consisting of Paolo Russo (bandoneon and piano), Francesco Calì (accordion and piano) and saxophonist Fabrizio Mandolini.

Over the years, Band au Neon has played concerts in Denmark, Sweden and Italy with increasing popularity among both audiences and critics. After their first acclaimed CD "Oltretango" (2005), they have released 2 more live albums: "Il Segreto" (2009) and "Fellini goes jazz" (2014) and are now working on a new project, with a string of international guest musicians.
