About the band:
Roba Estesa combines lively urban music with folk instrumentation and melodies. Lyrically, they explore everyday contradictions using a critical framework that encompasses their shared experiences: feminism. After winning Grup Enderrock’s 2015 Sounds of the Mediterranean Competition, Roba Estesa released their first album in 2016: Descalces (“Barefoot,” Coopula Records), which grapples with the themes of womanhood, struggle and tradition. In March 2017, the young band won three popular-vote "Enderrock" prizes (Best New Artist, Best Folk Album for Descalces and Best Folk Song for “Viu”), and also won the critic’s award for best debut album. After Descalces, the group released Desglaç (“Thaw,” Coopula, March 2018), whose 12 tracks seek to empower women in their struggle and to promote women’s representation on a large scale. Roba Estesa combines performance, musical skill and mise-en-scène to transform culture into social change.
