International jazz event på dansk jord:
Den prisvindende barytonsaxofonist Gary Smulyan gæster Danmark som del af en unik besætbning med tre barytonsaxofoner plus en særdeles stærk rytmegruppe. Udover Gary Smulyan blæser hollandske Rik Van den Berg og danske Niels Oldin dette musikalske barytontog afsted, med Gary Smulyan som sublim lokofører.
Det er yderst sjældent at Danmark har besøg af barytonsaxofonister og Gary Smulyan er et af de helt store navne i USA. Han har gentagne gange været nr. 1 på Down Beats lister og spiller bl.a. med The Vanguard Orchestra ( Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis) , Joe Lovanos Nonet og egne grupper. Han har ligeledes udsendt en række stærkt roste CDer.
Rik van den Bergh er en af de få der kun spiller barytonsax. Han har vundet den japanske Kobe Jazz Award i 1999 . Han står bag en række indspilninger med egne grupper. Den swingende rytmesektion er Ole Kock Hansen, piano, Jesper Bodilsen, bas og Andreas Fryland, trommer. Ole Kock Hansen står bag de fleste af arrangementerne til dette unikke hold. Det bliver en dag med barytonsax battle og ballader som vil få stedet til at råswinge.
