Det arabiske strengeinstrument med den smukke klang, oud’en, troner centralt i den arabiske musiktradition. Bilal Irshed, en herboende palæstinensisk komponist og oud- virtuos, står herhjemme som en af de fremmeste eksponenter for oud’en. En sjælfuld musiker, der både dyrker den traditionelle mellemøstlige folkemusik og det klassiske arabiske repertoire, men som også lader oud’ens skønne og vemodige toner klinge i nye sammenhænge.
Bilal Irshed Trio består, foruden Bilal Irshed, af den danske bassist Rasmus Møldrup og den herboende cubanske perkussionist Yohan Ramon. De musikalske rødder er at finde i den klassiske arabiske musik, men Trioen bevæger sig ud i en helt ny kontekst hvor det tæNe og organiske sammenspil mellem oud’en, nordisk jazz og cubanske rytmer har gjort trioen til noget helt særligt.
Trioen har eksisteret siden 2011 og har udsendt to albums – ’Composi?ons’ (2011) og ’Chronotope’ (2015). De har siden spillet et væld af koncerter.

Experience a tribute to oud and listen to classical Arabic music in a new masterful interpretation backedup by Cuban rhythms.
consists of Bilal Irshed on oud, Rasmus Møldrup on double bass and Yohan Ramon on percussion. The Trio is a tribute to the sound of the oud, whose warm and meditative sound serves to capture the history and beauty of the Orient world. However, by combining this sound with a Cuban percussion and the double bass from the Scandinavian jazz tradition, the oud is placed in a new and contemporary context. The Trio was created by Bilal in 2011 and has since been very successful, receiving great acclaim for their live performances. Their music is largely inspired by the Arabic and Turkish music repertoires but is additionally interspersed with elements from the world music scene.
