CALL OF THE ICE - ekstravisning med instruktørbesøg
Danmarkspremiere på Mike Magidsons smukke dokumentarfilm om hans vovede rejse ud i Grønlands arktiske vidder, hvor han forsøger at klare sig ene og alene. Mød instruktøren efter visningen.
Tirsdag 7. marts kl. 17 på Nordatlantiske Filmdage 2017
En amerikaner, der er bosat i Paris og vandt til storbylivets behageligheder, rejser ud i Grønlands store arktiske vidder, hvor han vil prøve at klare sig alene og kun på naturens betingelser. Det kræver mod. Og måske en smule sindssyge. Det er alligevel, hvad Mike Magidson har gjort. Han lægger dog først vejen forbi Uummannaq for at hente gode råd hos sin ven og mentor, fangeren Unartoq. Men så er han alene.
Dermed kunne filmen nemt have endt som enten en helteberetning eller katastrofefilm. Men Call of the Ice er ingen af delene. Tværtimod er der lun selvironi i Mike Magidsons fortælling om sine strabadser og ængstelser i den smukke dokumentarfilm, der først og fremmest udtrykker hans store passion og respekt for Inuitternes traditionsrige fangerkultur, som han fortsat har meget at lære af. Mike Magidson har tidligere instrueret tre film i Grønland, deriblandt spillefilmen Inuk (2011).
Arrangementet
Call of the Ice (2016) varer 99 minutter og vises med engelsk tale og engelske undertekster samt instruktørsamtale. Arrangementet varer 120 minutter. Dørene og filmcaféen åbner 45 minutter før visningen.
Billetter: 60 kr.
Nordatlantiske Filmdage 2017:
1.-8. marts præsenterer Nordatlantiske Filmdage spillefilm, dokumentarfilm og kortfilm fra Færøerne, Grønland og Island, tilsat oplæg, instruktørbesøg og debat. Det samlede program offentliggøres 1. februar på www.nordatlantens.dk
