Kan du forestille dig, at en motorvej pløjede sig tværs igennem Manhattan? Og at SoHo slet ikke fandtes? Sådan kunne det let være gået, hvis ikke forfatteren og aktivisten Jane Jacobs havde kæmpet for sin elskede hjemby New York. I 1950'erne og 60'erne, hvor bygherren Robert Moses sad tungt på magten, stod Jacobs op imod en mands- og finansdomineret byggeverden, der var besat af moderne, monumentale masterplaner. Men 'Citizen Jane' er ikke kun en dybt spændende historie om en modig kvindes kamp for sin by. Den er også en fagligt seriøs og fortsat aktuel storfilm om arkitektur, urbanitet og det gode (by)liv.
I samarbejde med IFHP og Space 10 kan du møde stjernearkitekt Jan Gehl til visningen, i samtale om Jane Jacobs og fremtidens byer.
