    Description

Coema is a tale about “rites of passage”. The heroine begins her journey with the innocence of the girl and her stories of princesses, passing through the young and intuitive woman, personified in the witch. At last, we will find the wisdom of the adult woman, who has in her hands the power to decide on her own destiny.

Coema is inspired by a story called "The farmer's mute son", collected and written by the Brazilian author Ricardo Azevedo. We titled it Coema, which means "it is morning" in the indigenous Guarani language and is also the name chosen for the heroine of the story.

The show Coema mixes three artistic languages: theater, music, and literature. It invites the audience to an intimate encounter, with eye-level contact with the performers, Stage props are re-imagined in various ways, and scenes are created with few visual resources, thus letting the imagination and creativity of the viewers take part in the process. The music played live, creates a spectacle apart. However, actress and musician interact in the creation of these images, and the original music, created with references to Brazilian and Danish traditional music, further ennobles the spectacle, wrapped by a poetic narrative.
