    Description

CAFx + IFHP + BLOXHUB presents

Conference: New Demographics, New Housing Needs

Cities are currently undergoing dramatic demographic changes that have a significant impact on urban society as well as housing demands. The different housing needs of household types vary tremendously according to the age, family structures and profile of the population. Many Europeans are currently searching for more flexible and affordable types of housing. In Scandinavia, society is faced with questions of how to satisfy the needs for welfare, health care and nursing for the growing number of seniors, depending on social services. At the same time, Danish Statistics is calculating with 37 different types of families, reflecting the break of the typical nuclear family. Today, Copenhagen is struggling to provide housing for the great number of newcomers and students every year, while the number of single households are high in demand, The diversity of citizens is rising and rethinking or co-living is proliferating. All this makes us wonder how well we are indeed to change our home typologically and envision new living constellations?

The conference aims to provide a platform to reflect and discuss current housing needs vs changing demographics in Scandinavia, Copenhagen and beyond, from different perspectives and with the intention of creating diverse and inclusive future housing typologies.
