I en tid med politisk splittelse og internationale konflikter har den danske guitarsekstet, CRAS Ensemble, inviteret en komponist fra hvert af de nordiske lande til at skabe et fælles værk, der udforsker det, vi har til fælles som nordiske naboer.
Komponisterne er danske Pernille Sejlund, svenske Zoe Efstathiou,
færøske Anna Katrin Egilstrøð, norske Kristin Bolstad, islandske
Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir og finske Maija Hynninen. Over to fire-dages
workshops, hvor CRAS lejede en villa i de københavnske forstæder som
alle blev indlogeret i, fik de seks komponister mulighed for at
eksperimentere og samarbejde om et værk, der fokuserer på de værdier,
der forener os.
I begyndelsen a workshoppen fik komponisterne til opgave at medbringe
en ingrediens fra hver deres hjemland, som skulle bruges til en
storslået middag, som blev tilberedt af alle. På samme måde indeholdt de
to workshops aktiviteter, der udforskede deltagernes personlige
baggrunde og nationale karaktertræk, for eksempel ved at bruge
personlige genstande fra deres fortid. Måltidet og aktiviteterne såvel
som resten af den kunstneriske proces handlede om teamwork og om at være
åben for nye veje. Målet var at dele ideer og få komponisternes
individuelle styrker til at samles til fælles bedste – fuldstændigt
ligesom det afsluttende musikværk, hvor alle de forskellige kunstneriske
udtryk skaber en helhed, der overstiger summen af delene.
