Teaterforestillingen ”Demokratiet og uvejret” er et spil om det nutidige menneskes dilemmaer, et musikalsk skuespil om verdens genvordigheder og tidens store spørgsmål.
Den højspændte og dramatiske handling foregår på en (fiktiv) ø i Atlanterhavet. Her ligger to lande på hver sin halvdel med hver sin styreform, det ene diktatorisk, det andet demokratisk. I det første land undertrykkes befolkningen af den herskende overklasse, i det andet har befolkningen alle demokratiets rettigheder: ytringsfrihed, forsamlingsfrihed, valgret etc., etc., og landet ledes af en demokratisk valgt regering og et lovgivende parlament. Men også det demokratiske land har problemer. Det har indre fjender såvel som ydre, og det har problemer med økonomisk ulighed og store forskelle mellem rige og fattige.
I stykket møder vi bl.a. politikerne Anna Sveadottir, Robert McMurphy, Rosa Schnitzkopf, Francesca Alfonso, Ivo Colcic og Paula de Mezzo, diktatoren Uthello Obi, hans datter Margherita Obi, og hans svigersøn Stefan Zeromsky, chefen for det hemmelige politi Morgan Fabius, 2 unge (Pedro Laquelle og Ylvia Pigona) og to flygtninge (Simone Vladimir og Brigitte Rigot). Alle forsøger på hver sin måde at agere i de indviklede samfund, de er en del af, hvor en forkert beslutning kan være katastrofal, og hvor det et svært at finde ud af, hvad der overhovedet er rigtigt, og hvad der er forkert.
