Foredrag om idealer og traditioner, nutidens designerne arbejder ud fra når de skal designe møbler til fremtidens hjem.
Drevet af ønsket om at sikre velfærd for almenvellet har danske møbelarkitekter og designere entusiastisk op gennem det 20. århundrede bogstavelig talt ‘ommøbleret’ idealerne for boligens indretning og udformning: fra visionære bud på hjemmets organisering, over møbelklassikere, til stikkontakter og køkkenskåle. Brandet, æstetikken og håndværkstraditionen bag ‘Danish Design’ og dansk levevis opfattes som tæt forbundne - selv i nutidens design fairs og bøger om hygge i udlandet. Men med de ændrede samfundsstrukturer, familiemønstre og levevilkår i vores samtid, er der nye behov at tage stilling til. Foredraget fokuserer på, hvordan designerne forholder sig til disse nye udfordringer og deres nationale designtradition.
