Den caribiske trompetist og komponist Étienne Charles møder DR Big Band i et farverigt festfyrværkeri af grooves, energi og varme rytmer. Der venter en sand musikfest med både kreolske, caribiske og amerikanske vibes – og et ekstra skud rytmisk energi fra den cubanske percussionist Eliel Lazo på scenen i Studie 2.
Fænomenet Étienne Charles indtager for første gang DR Koncerthuset med en pulserende caribisk musikfest!
Efter sidste sæsons Slave af Danmark-koncerter, hvor Charles stod bag en del af musikken, møder han nu DR Big Band live i en forrygende fusion af caribisk musik og moderne jazz.
Under titlen The Caribbean Connection præsenterer Étienne Charles numre fra sit nyeste album med bandet Creole Orchestra, blandet med musik fra hans tidligere samarbejde med DR Big Band, der fik publikum op af stolene i Studie 2.
Denne gang leder Étienne selv bandet med sin trompet og vokal, samtidig med at han har arrangeret al musikken i en koncert, hvor DR Big Bands stærke sound møder varme grooves og dansende rytmer.
Som gæstemusiker medvirker den cubanske percussionist Eliel Lazo, der endnu en gang fyrer op under bandet med eksplosiv energi – en ægte Caribbean Connection!

Om Holbæk Jazzklub
Holbæk Jazzklub, som har eksisteret siden 1955 og i sin nuværende form siden 1996, er en ikke-kommerciel forening hvis formål det er at præsentere jazz med danske og udenlandske kunstnere af høj kvalitet, for derigennem både at give publikum gode musikalske oplevelser og udbrede kendskabet til jazz i almindelighed, men også at virke som inspiration for det lokale musik- og kulturliv.
Den daglige drift af Holbæk Jazzklub bliver varetaget af en bestyrelse. Bestyrelsen, der vælges blandt foreningens medlemmer på den ordinære generalforsamling, består af 7 medlemmer samt 2 suppleanter. Derudover drives arrangementerne blandt andet af frivillige – kaldet ”jobbere”.
Jazzklubbens generalforsamling afholdes hvert år senest medio februar måned ifølge vedtægterne.

Den musikalske profil er ”moderne jazz” som den spilles i dag, defineret i videste forstand. Programmet sammensættes ud fra et bredt sæt kriterier, herunder kvalitet, aktualitet og alsidighed, for i sidste ende at munde ud i varieret jazzmusik af høj kvalitet, som taler til publikum.
