På denne tur bevæger vi os gennem det sene 1700-tals København. Vi fortæller om de elendige og de mægtige, om refomen af det værste fængselsvæsen i Europa, omorganiseringen af Fattigvæsenet, om den værste isvinter i hundrede år - og så selvfølgelig om Struensee, Christian, Cathrine, Johannes og alle de andre, der på hver deres måde kæmpede sig gennem tilværelsen.
