Den danske animationsfilm 'Den utrolige historie om den kæmpestore pære' handler om elefanten Sebastian og katten Mitcho.
De bor i den idylliske Solby, men en dag forsvinder deres elskede borgmester, og ingen ved hvor han er blevet af. Da de to venner finder en flaskepost, der afslører, at han nu bor på Den Mystiske Ø, må de gøre noget ved sagen.
Borgmesteren skriver, at rejsen dertil vil være alt for farlig for Sebastian og Mitcho, men heldigvis indeholder flaskeposten også et magisk frø, og da de planter dette, vokser en kæmpestor pære frem fra jorden. Eventyret kan nu begynde, for med en gigantisk frugt ved hånden kan makkerparret pludseligt sejle hen over et farefuldt hav befolket af hidsige pirater og andre ukendte væsener.
Familiefilmen 'Den utrolige historie om den kæmpestore pære' er baseret på Jakob Martin Strids kendte børnebog af samme navn. Instruktørerne bag har tidligere stået for animeret underholdning i form af Olsen Banden på dybt vand og Ronal Barbaren.
Stemmerne bag Strids kulørte galleri bestående af karakterer som piratkaptajnen og Professor Glukose leveres af skuespillere som Peter Frödin, Søren Pilmark og Jakob Oftebro.
