ABOUT TONIGHT'S MOVIE [English below]
War is hell, and often more so for the people who have had no say in whether it is fought or not.
That has been profoundly established as true by several of the films that we have screened over the years, and it is true in Ukraine, right now.
Tonight, we invite you all to join us for a screening in support of the people of Ukraine and their independence.
All profits from the bar will be donated to Ukrainian charities.
The film of the night is from 2018, directed by Sergei Loznitsa, and takes place in the Donbas region of Ukraine, which has been occupied by pro-Russian separatists for several years.
In a series of vignettes, Loznitsa depicts life in and around the war-torn region, sometimes with solemnity and compassion, sometimes as pitch-black satire. We hope you and yours will join us for a good film and a great cause.!
The screening begins at 19.30.
