I forbindelse med den aktuelle særudstilling Amalie Smith - Looming inviterer Holstebro Kunstmuseum i samarbejde med Holstebro Folkeuniversitet til foredrag v. kunsthistoriker og ph.d. -studerende Ane Kirstine Preisler.
I forbindelse med særudstillingens tematik belyser aftenens foredrag vævens fundamentale betydning for tilblivelsen af vores kultur i dag.
Vævning er en ældgammel teknologi. I tusindvis af år har væven været det vigtigste redskab til at skabe stof til beklædning, beboelse, transport osv. Væven har haft en enorm og alsidig anvendelighed og det materiale, der er blevet til på den – tekstil – har kunnet bruges til utallige formål. Vævens kreativitet er imidlertid større og mere kompleks end som så, for i disse år opdages flere og flere eksempler på, hvordan vævningen som teknologi har været en forudsætning for udviklingen af videnskaber og kunstformer. - Et foredrag om vævens fundamentale betydning for tilblivelsen af vores kultur i dag.

Foredraget er arrangeret i samarbejde med Holstebro Folkeuniversitet.
Prisen for foredraget er 50 kr.
Billetten er gratis for medlemmer af Holstebro Kunstmuseums Venner, Folkeuniversitetets storkunder samt studerende.
