Tomas Skov fortæller historien om et både konstant og foranderligt Monopol og menneskerne, der har drevet tøjforretningen gennem hundrede år.
Historien om en tøjfamilie i Roskilde gennem tre generationer starter med Ole Sørensen, der bliver en succesfuld entreprenør i København i slutningen af 1800-tallet. Et af hans mange børn er Ludvig Sørensen, som uddanner sig inden for herreekvipering og siden åbner Monopol i Skomagergade 14. september 1923. Herretøjsforretningen går med tiden i arv til sønnen Kurt Settrup, som igen overgiver den til sin yngste søn, Henrik Settrup.
Foredraget tager afsæt i bogen Tøj til Tiden, som Tomas Skov udgav i 2023. Han har arbejdet med lokaljournalistik i Roskilde fra 2015-2024 og udgav i 2022 Klemmefabrikanten, historien om den entreprenante tømrermester, C.C. Hansen.
