På en omvisning på Assistens Kirkegård kombinerer vi amerikanske sange om pludselig død, med nogen af kirkegårdens uhyggelige og muligvis sandfærdige historier: Om kvinden der blev levende begravet og om manden der gik ned med Titanic. Døden er et livsvilkår. Ofte kommer den uventet og når man mindst venter det. Hvordan forholder man sig til den uventede død? Man kan skrive sange om den og fortælle uhyggelige historier.
Betty synger New Orleans-blues som en ægte neger. The Beast har dybe rødder i den amerikanske balladetradition fra depressionens dage og frem til Bob Dylans til enhver tid sidste plade. Tilsammen giver det en musikalsk cocktail der garanterer løssluppenhed, traditionsbevidshed, fandenivoldskhed - ogaltid det dybeste alvor.
Med ”Betty and the Beast” alias Eyolf Østrem (vokal og guitar) og Elisabeth Børch (vokal) samt fortæller og kulturvejleder Christoffer Jørgensen.
