Jonathan går fra bondegården, Castberg åbner verdens første døveskole, Englænderne belejrer København, Kongen ér stukket af, Katastrofen banker på… Snart står Jonathan med smagen af sit første kys på læberne, mens granaterne regner ned omkring ham. Et par gader derfra springer Laura-Margrethe af sted med løst hår og en økse i hånden, for at myrde en der allerede er død. Hun må sone den synd, der har bragt djævlene og ødelæggelserne til København. Vor Frue kirke brænder...
