Se Jette Bangs enestående dokumentarklassiker fra 1940, som vises i samarbejde med Arktisk Institut og med introduktion ved eskimolog, Jette Bang-specialist og direktør i Det Grønlandske Hus, Leise Johnsen.
Torsdag 2. marts kl. 20 på Nordatlantiske Filmdage
Jette Bangs Inuit er en unik og vigtig film af flere grunde. Som tidlig farvefilm fra Grønland er den for det første vigtig rent filmhistorisk. Desuden skildrer dens enestående optagelser fra Grønlands vestkyst i årene 1938-39 en livsform, der få år efter var næsten forsvundet. Jette Bang kom så at sige i sidste øjeblik og lavede den ypperste billeddokumentation fra et Grønland, som næsten ikke findes mere.
Etnografen, fotografen og filminstruktøren Jette Bang (1914-1964) rejste i alt seks gange til Grønland og lavede flere enestående film, der spejler hendes dybtfølte engagement og respekt for den kultur og de mennesker, hun skildrede. Som fotograf efterlod hun sig desuden en stor samling af fantastiske fotos, hvorfra et udvalg er udkommet i Leise Johnsens anmelderroste bog Jette Bang - fra isbjørnens bug.
Arrangementet
Inuit (1940) har dansk fortællestemme, varer 76 minutter og vises med introduktion. Arrangementet varer ca. 100 minutter og filmcaféen åbner en time før visningen.
