Tag vandreskoene på og rejs tilbage til Egon Weidekamps København. Undervejs på ruten vil deltagerne møde både den tidligere byplanborgmester Villo Sigurdsson, museumsleder Frederik Strand fra Politimuseet, et Bygger-barn, en Bygger-forælder, en BZ´er og en politimand, som var indsatsleder i forbindelse med nedrivningen af Den Sorte Firkants byggelegeplads – symbolet på modsætningen mellem nørrebroere og Københavns Kommune.
Byvandringen sætter særligt fokus på Weidekamp som Københavns Overborgmester fra 1976 til 1989 og hvilken betydning han har haft for Københavns udvikling. Perioden var præget af sociale problemer, bl.a. tårnhøj ungdomsarbejdsløshed, lavkonjunktur og stagnation i byggeriet. Ruten sætter spot på Weidekamps boligsaneringsplan, for ’Den Sorte Firkant’ på Nørrebro. Saneringerne blev udgangspunkt for konfrontationerne mellem BZ-bevægelsen og politiet, der på overborgmesterens opfordring ryddede byggelegepladsen, benævnt ’Byggeren’, med hårdhændede midler.
