Helsingør Kammeropera og guidOpera åbner den nye sæson med Verdis helt store operaklassiker, La Traviata.
Alexandre Dumas’ Kameliadamen om den berømte kurtisane, som opgiver sit luksuriøse liv i de parisiske saloner for den ægte kærlighed, vakte stor opsigt da den udkom og inspirerede mange kunstnere, heriblandt Verdi som skrev sin La Traviata i 1853.
Verdis musik gør på mange måder historien endnu mere gribende. Det går selvfølgelig ikke de unge elskende, Violetta og Alfredo, som planlagt, for Alfredos far mener at Violetta er en skam for familien og tvinger hende til at forlade sønnen. Efter utallige ydmygelser dør Violetta til sidst af sin tuberkulose, fattig og forladt af alle og enhver.
Det er ikke uden grund at La Traviata i dag er en af de mest elskede operaer i verden. Se den her i en klassisk opsætning af Guido Paevatalu. Husk lommertørklæder!
Operaen synges på italiensk og er arrangeret for kammerensemble bestående af violin, cello, klarinet og klaver. Varrighed ca. 2 1/2 time.
