Morten Riis, sætter sig for at udforske skrøbelighed, forfald og
forgængelighed.
I det første af i alt tre planlagte værker, som Morten Riis - KLANG festivals huskomponist (2022-2004) - skriver specielt til festivallen, værket Light, Darkness and Tape Recorders, er intet stabilt: Lyset flakker faretruende på grænsen til mørket, vores erindringer er øjeblikke fra at forsvinde bag glemslens slør og de faldefærdige objekter, vi desperat forsøger at opbevarer erindringerne i - båndoptagerne, lysbillederne - er tæt på at kollapse. Alting - vores teknologi, vores minder, vores liv - er skrøbeligt.
Alligevel er Light, Darkness and Tape Recorders ikke et deprimerende eller nedslående værk. Tværtimod: Morten Riis tror på, at vi gennem en konfrontation med altings iboende skrøbelighed kan opnå en ydmyghed, der i sidste ende kan bringe os tættere på den verden, vi alle er en del af. At skrøbeligheden ikke blot er en trussel mod vores liv, men også en forudsætning for det. Light, Darkness and Tape Recorders er en enestående mulighed for at opnå skrøbeligheden på helt nært hold.
