De 3 komponister Marilyn Mazur, Fredrik Lundin og Kasper Bai er fundet sammen om en fælles passion for at skrive musik til et 13-personers ensemble, og har samlet et stærkt og musikalsk mangfoldigt hold af erfarne musikere, med nogle af den danske jazzscenes stærkeste personlige stemmer.
Maluba Orchestra debuterede i Copenhagen Jazzfestival 2017, hvor Politikens anmelder gav koncerten 5 hjerter og kaldte den for “en engagerende lytteoplevelse, som ganske enkelt er noget af det bedste, jeg overhovedet har hørt under dette års jazzfestival”.
Maluba Orchestra’s debutalbum udkom på Stunt Records i 2019 (CD/LP/digital), og vandt en Danish Music Award for Årets Jazzudgivelse i 2020. Albummet har endvidere modtaget overstrømmende anmeldelser fra danske og udenlandske medier. Rocklegenden Iggy Pop spillede musikken i sit radioprogram ”Iggy Confidential” på BBC med kommentaren: “So beautiful! That is the Maluba Orchestra...this is a wonderful group of musicians”.

Hos os kan du høre nogle af de mest interessante nye og etablerede kunstnere fortælle om deres arbejde ved artist talks i Riddersalen, opleve engagerede foredragsholdere fortælle om generelle strømninger i samfundet eller fordybe sig i helt specifikke emner. Du kan opleve både kendte og ukendte musik-kunstnere indenfor alle genrer som giver koncerter af høj klasse, eller du kan deltage i vores meget populære fællessangs-aftener i Agerumsladen. Vores eksterne publikum kommer både fra Nørup, Bredsten og de andre landsbyer i lokalområdet, men også fra Vejle, Kolding, Billund, Grindsted, Fredericia – dels på grund af programmet – men også for at opleve den helt særlige Engelsholm stemning, som opstår i mødet mellem den smukke natur, de gamle bygninger og den spirende energi, som højskolens kunst- og musikelever tilfører stedet.
