Mozart skriver til sin far Leopold d. 20. juli 1782, mens operaen går for fulde huse, og pengene strømmer ind: "Inden på søndag må jeg have skrevet min opera om til harmonimusik, så en anden ikke kommer mig i forkøbet og indkasserer min profit af det". Det er netop denne udgave, som Det Harmoniske Selskab spiller.
Og det var netop ved førsteopførelsen af denne opera, at følgende replikker faldt mellem kejseren og Mozart: "Alt for smukt for vore ører, men alt for mange noder, min kære Mozart!" - "Netop det antal, der er brug for, Deres Majestæt". Mozart kendte godt sit værd, og det gjorde kejseren også - så der venter publikum en kejserlig oplevelse.
