MODERNE MANDAG 2018 åbner med en hyldest til komponisten Karl Aage Rasmussen i anledning af hans 70-års fødselsdag 13. december 2017. Som komponist og som skribent er Karl Aage Rasmussens indsigt i den vestlige kompositionsmusik legendarisk, og han har inspireret mange musikere til at beskæftige sig med helt ukendt og sjældent spillet musik. Koncerten med to af Karl Aage Rasmussens nærmeste musikervenner violinisten Helge Slaatto og pianisten Erik Kaltoft afspejler dette og byder både på uropførelse og dansk førsteopførelse.
