Description
Leadership in uncertain times requires resilience grounded in strong values. Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky (1865–1944) offers a timeless example of such leadership for the 21st century. He was a true visionary, combining moral courage with practical action, founding schools, business collectives, hospitals, cultural institutions, and civic initiatives. His life was built on service and the belief that a society thrives when guided by ethical principles.
We invite you to join a lecture with Nataliia Popovych, Chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark, exploring what Sheptytsky can teach us today. The lecture will focus on three central themes:
1. The life path and choices of Sheptytsky as a guide of values in the interwar period of the 20th century.
2. Parallels between his projects and Nordic practices of the welfare state, combined with a free market economy and a just society. We’ll talk about how Sheptytsky’s initiatives anticipated the success of modern Nordic approaches to capitalism and welfare state-building.
3. A model of leadership for the 21st century. Finally, we’ll explore Sheptytsky’s leadership approach grounded in values, service, and foresight, and answer the question: How can it inform strategies for building resilient institutions and communities today?
We hope you’ll join us for this reflection on the legacy of a leader ahead of his time.
