    Description

This is the third & final night of our “Occult Film & Music Festival” (There is a separate billetto page for the show on the 27th, and for the show on the 26th - THE LOVE WITCH - contact jack.stevenson@mail.dk directly for tickets. Mail Jack directly if you have any questions about anything.) The ticket price of 80kr. grants you admission to all activities on this night, and all screenings are on original format 16mm. Tonight´s program is:

17:30 = BLACK VOODOO (aka NURSE SHERRI), 1978, directed by Al Adamson. A demented professor of the occult suffers grievous harm and before he dies on the operating table his soul transits into the body of Nurse Sherri. The possessed woman in white then begins stalking, seducing and killing people - even her boyfriend - until an end is put to the madness. A pure-blown exploitation film that was screened in urban grindhouses and drive-ins and draws influence from “The Exorcist” and from cult leaders like Manson and Jones.

19:15 = SHORTS PROGRAM, to include:

BLACK MASS, 1928, Director unknown, silent, 7 min, This pornographic “stag” film has been recopied in secret over many decades, but with its large cast, which was unusual, and the pure blasphemy of its subject matter it is sure to startle even the most jaded hedonist.

WOLKENSCHATTEN, 2014, 17 min., directed by Anja Dornieden & Juan Monroy. A dark cloud passes over a small German village and sometime later it is mysteriously abandoned by its residents. Clues lead investigators to a cave on the outskirts of town where a large homemade projection device is found and the mystery deepens.

THE MAN WE WANT TO HANG, 2002, 14 min., directed by Kenneth Anger. This pensive, penetrating and at times dramatic rumination on the “occult high-priest” Aleister Crowley is a eye-opening exploration of the psyche of one of the most misunderstood personalities of the previous century – all told through the paintings of Crowley and music selected by Anger.

20.45 = “VISA DE CENSURE X” by Pierre Clementi, France, 1967-1975, 43 min. This jewel of psychedelic French cinema pours forth a torrent of continuous overlaid images, colors and sounds. Clementi was a famous actor, non-conformist and charismatic icon of the French underground at the end of the 60's, a rebel with a tormented angel face who influenced films by Buñuel, Pasolini, Visconti, Cavani, Bertolucci, Garrel, Marc O', etc. An uncompromising and fiercely independent artist, he was emblematic of the counter-culture in France although his activities as a filmmaker were less known. This movie unspooled as an uninterrupted diary until he passed away at the age of 57 in December of 1999 and was unobtainable for a long time. Classic “hippie” images intermesh with the strange nightmarish drug orgies…

22:00 = SOLYARA, live performance. SOLYARA is the singer and electronic solo artist Laura Noszczyk and guitarist Dave Müller. Their atmospheric sound is characterized by long drone passages and ethereal vocals, a minimalist style that calls to mind the Dark Wave band “Dead Can Dance” and has been described as a cosmic trip through the universe. “(there is a) “sacral syncretic” dimension to their style that suggests a hypnotic spiritual journey into a collective sub-consciousness.” – Gaffa.dk
