This free-led quartet from Copenhagen specialises in contemporary jazz and reflects the current trends in Scandinavian music. Building on the traditions of european improvised and free music as well as American jazz traditions, the ensemble is made up of young artists residing in Denmark. Ocean Fanfare delivers ambitious music aimed at a wide audience.

The Polish trumpeter Tomasz Dąbrowski, who already have many albums as bandleader on his conscience, has developed his own personal sound on the trumpet. In Ocean Fanfare he creates, with Sven Dam Meinild on saxophone, a horn section that alternates from the euphoric to the dark melancholy. Danish Richard Andersson is known as a bass player with a solid grip on the jazz tradition, but also the will and the courage to point forward. Along with Peter Bruun on drums, they create both a raw swing and a free energetic drive. Peter Bruun is a rising star on the international jazz scene. His numerous collaborations include among others Marc Ducret, Django Bates, Tim Berne and Samuel Blaser.

Ocean Fanfare released their debut album ‘Imagine Sound, Imagine Silence’ in 2014 with Tyshawn Sorey behind the drums.
