In English:
ÖZGÜR
Orhan Özgür Turan, from the award-winning trio Hudna, the multinational constellation Gadjos and up-and-coming Ipek Yolu is celebrating the release of his solo debut album ÖZGÜR. “ÖZGÜR”, which in Turkish means FREE, encapsulates Orhan's habitat, where he feels most at home and the name alludes to the inspiration he has drawn from the characteristic Anatolian and Nordic sound as he hears it. Folk Music from Anatolia and partly Turkish Art Music is clear starting points, this time with the traditional acoustic bağlama/saz, but from here on the sound is of a completely different character, turns into a spectrum of vibrations from near and far when it meets Blues, Jazz, Psych and Progressive Rock, Trip-Hop Beats and grooving on North African rhythms. Orhan will perform with his trio consisting of himself on saz and vocals as well as Yossi Karutchi on percussion and Rasmus Fogh Frisenvang on guitar.
AySay
Luna Ersahin was born into a life of two cultures. With a Danish mother and a Kurdish/Turkish dad her voice rings with a certain sound of a whole made up of two different halves. Being the centerpiece of the trio AySay, the same story translates into a captivating soundscape where traditions from East and West melt together into a poppy sound yet with a strangely ancient and traditional feeling. The trio released the critically acclaimed EP “AySay” in 2018.
