De fleste kender til Skagensmalerne, men før kunstnerne for alvor drog til Skagen, slog de sig ned i Hornbæk og skabte Danmarks første kunstnerkoloni i 1870’erne.
I Hornbæk blev kunstnerne fascinerede af stranden, plantagen, Kullens bjerge i horisonten og den lokale fiskerbefolkning.
Vi kigger på værker af bl.a. P.S. Krøyer, Holger Drachmann, Viggo Johansen og Carl Locher og nærlæser nogle af kunstnernes egne beretninger fra deres ophold i Hornbæk.
Foredraget afholdes af cand.mag. i kunsthistorie Ida Lehrmann Madsen som har forsket i kunstnerkolonien og været kurator på udstillingen ’P.S. Krøyer og kunstnerkolonien i Hornbæk’ på Den Hirschsprungske Samling i sommeren 2019.
