ENGLISH
Taken from Sardinia, Paolo Angeli with his extraordinary hand-built guitar – a veritable orchestra of lead and sympathetic strings, hammers, pedals and mini-propellers creating bell-like trills – Angeli evokes the sound of a ship's fog horn, blowing winds and breaking waves. However, these effects are only the tip of the iceberg. Bowed and electronically-filtered drones drift in and out throughout the hour-long suite, while Angeli also juggles bass and cello melodic lines, acoustic guitar entanglements and electric guitar waves. A number of percussive effects color the music. Rhythms, obvious and implied, are a constant.
Angeli's heart and mind are never far from his island. Throughout a long career, the Italian guitarist has often drawn inspiration from the island's landscapes, soundscapes, culture and history; especially in this concert he meets the fascinating, uniquely expressive sound of another sardine, Copenhagen-based drummer and composer Bruno Masia. His unique way of manipulating the rhythms, in which the apparent instability forms well-balanced and solid rhythmic patterns, make Bruno's drumming remarkable.
A versatile drummer, Bruno has played and recorded with Jorge Rossy, Jesper Bodilsen, Dave Liebman, Snake Platform, among others. Bruno Masia's music spans a wide range of genres and styles, embracing jazz, minimalism, avant-garde, mainstream, modern and rhythmic improvisation.
The concert takes place in the Brønshøj Water Tower**, which contributes to the concert with its astonishing acoustics and long reverberation. The inner geometric structure of the tower acts as an additional and committed "performer", giving shape to the sound and sending every note of the duo Angeli-Masia back to the performers and not least the audience.
**Remember warm clothes and footwear as the floor of the tower is below ground level.

ITALIANO
