Kom og hør Manu og Cilja Sareen - Aktion Børnehjælps ambassadører - fortælle om deres nylige rejse til det sydlige Indien.
Manu Sareen (født 16. maj 1967 i Punjab i Indien) er en dansk politiker, og tidligere minister for børn, ligestilling, integration og sociale forhold. Manu Sareen er også forfatter til adskillige børnebøger, bl.a. den populære serie om Iqbal Farooq.
Cilja Sareen er datter af Manu Sareen. Hun er 18 år og går i 3.g på Gefion Gymnasiums samfundsvidenskabelige linje.
Manu og Cilja vil fortælle og vise billeder fra deres besøg hos deres eget fadderbarn i slummen i Chennai, og fra besøg hos Aktion Børnehjælps projektpartnere i Indien.
Manu og Ciljas møde med det fattige Indien har gjort et stort indtryk, og især Cilja har haft nogle stærke oplevelser ved hendes møder med unge kvinder, der, som hun, står på tærsklen til voksenlivet. Hvad er virkeligheden for disse unge kvinder i Indien? Og hvordan adskiller deres virkelighed sig fra hendes egen?
Manu vil også fortælle om sin egen baggrund, som søn af en indisk immigrantfamilie, og hvordan hans rejse med Cilja har påvirket ham og hans syn på sin egen opvækst. Hvordan er det at rejse tilbage til Indien med sin egen datter? Hvad har hans opvækst i Danmark betydet for hans muligheder - og nu Ciljas?
